Is it just me, or do sometimes fastballs look like they are hopping in sort of a circular pattern?

That only happens when you miss 'em. 
Used to happen to me - not so much anymore.
When you say fastballs are hoping....are you talking about when the catcher misses the pitch, or are you referring to a ball being hit that's moving fast and bouncing?

What I'm referring to is when you are sitting on one of the baselines watching the pitcher throw to the catcher. Sometimes it seems as the ball starts to approach the catcher it is hopping. I am thinking that it has something to do with spin and the seams that make it look like it is hopping. Or maybe I'm just hopped up on Coca-Cola.
