Todd Whitting was named the head baseball coach at the University of Houston on Friday. Whitting spent the last seven years as an assistant coach under Jim Schlossnagle at TCU.

Before joining Schlossnagle, Whitting was an assistant at Houston from 1995-2003 after lettering three years and graduating from the school.

Whitting replaces Rayner Noble, who coached the Cougars for 16 years.

"This has been a dream come true for me to come back to the University of Houston," Whitting said. "When I left the University of Houston, I truly felt there was unfinished business and that's what we are going to accomplish."

Whitting has been credited with attracting top recruits to TCU, leading to consecutive super regional appearances and the school's first trip to the College World Series.

Really??

TCU has gotten better every year since Schlossnagle's arrival in '04. Purke choosing TCU is indicative of the success that's been building, not a fluky signing that caused TCU's success (although Purke obviously HUGE in TCU reaching Omaha).

In that same time frame UH has nosed dived. They're sub .500 the past two years. So your comparison kinda sucks.

Last 7 years:
TCU - regional, regional, regional, regional, regional, Super Regional, Omaha.

UH - nothing, nothing, regional, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing.
