Nothing vested in the series since Cali isn't represented anywhere but absolutely loved last night's game. Hubby and I were chuckling over Pettite's comment ... who knew we could lip-read from the side? But I was pretty sure the game wasn't over when the Fox group "awarded" their "Player of the Game" to Berkman in the 8th inning ... for his 3 run shot that put the Astros ahead. All I could think was "Well now isn't that a bit premature?"

Guess I was right ... the fat lady hadn't sung yet so they were definitely pre-mature in that award. Pujols is amazing !!! And I am really looking forward to the conclusion of the NLCS and the whole WS this year ... it promises to be great.

I sure hope you were watching tonight when Pujols whacked that one off Lidge. I don't think the radio could do it justice!

Best video clip of the night is the one showing Pettite in the dugout as Pujol's ball was still in flight. There was no audio but you could read Pettite's lips. The words from his lips were very distinct..."Oh my God!" He truly was in awe of that hit.

As a White Sox fan I am not unhappy that the NL series has not been decided yet. I hope they're still playing Thursday night!

I'm running on empty today since that game, no sleep due to excitement, and plyos this morning. I'll get my second wind soon. GO CARDINALS. NOTE - My wife changed the channel after the Berkman homerun because she, "didn't want to see me have a heart attack." TURNING THAT CHANNEL ALMOST MADE ME HAVE ONE!
gotwood, Cards fans have been smiling all season with all the sports commentators' talk about how we got the worst deal in the SS Swap. Nah.....

We got to see Eck in ST and went from admiring his job as an Angel to lovin' him as a Cardinal. He's the Everyman out on the MLB stage and (unless he's playing Your Team), I defy you not to enjoy his play.

My comments on Lidge's spots were based on where Ausmus was setting up v. where the ball was thrown; doesn't mean a pitcher can't still be successful, particularly/predicatably against a rookie and a PT player (although one who has been clutch for the Cards this and other seasons).

Why'd they pitch to AP? Who knows -- ego, avoiding bases loaded, he'd been 0 for the night, his first AB looked like a brain cramp and it didn't improve with the second, Sanders was Hot prior to the train wreck --- want to load the bases and see if he's got it back, it was Lidge pitching who had just the night before given up the first run to the Cards in a bajillion innings?

That hindsight is excellant, innit; actual managers and coaches have to do it in the moment.
FBM---

agree on the ridiculously premature Player of the Game award by the even more ridiculous announcers. How DUMB do they look now? pull_hair The Cards were down by two measly runs at the time with the pest and the big bopper due up in the 9th. I was rooting for the Astros (when I have no vested interest, the underdog gets the nod), but, WOW, did I ever enjoy this classic ending! clap
