Fine. Ours are LL. We had a surprising number of 12 yo opt to stay down in minors this year. We had planned to add a team in majors because of the large overall # of 12yo but ended up not doing so. Tryouts finish up on Sunday.
My eighth-grader is trying out for his HS team and they are still in conditioning until next week. There have been 4-5 kids per day throwing up from the challenging workout, but he has not been one of them. He actually has said that the workouts have not been as bad as he thought they would be. Several of the returning players (upperclassmen) have been talking him up to the freshman coach, so preliminarily it looks good - but this school was state runner-up last year and are very bottom-heavy.
Our travel team has been practicing since the beginning of December and are concentrating on hitting at this time. They are looking pretty good at this point.
Pre-season practice has been go well for us except for the rainouts. We will be relatively young this year after losing lots of seniors. We do have one lefty senior who throw's 90+ and did so as a junior, so he should be dominating this year. Everyone is getting pumped!
My nine year did well and will make it to LL majors (small league)The manager has him tabbed to pitch and play cf. I'll be coaching and trying to stay out of trouble. Try-outs are over now the politics begin. Rollerman
