I am definitely not a post-'60s Yankees fan, but there's a definite sadness in this being the final season of The House That Ruth Built. Time marches on....but sometimes I wish it wouldn't.

I haven't been in years, but went many many times growing up. I have so many vivid memories. The smell of hotdogs, the organ playing, Bob Shepards voice, hearing NY NY play the second the last out was made. I really remember all of that like it was yesterday. I can't believe they would tear it down. Isn't it a national landmark or something? If not, it should be! Smile

Sad to see an organization sell out the fans and history as we near the next Depression.

Have u ever tried to get a ticket to Wrigley or Fenway? They "sold out" years ago. Don't blame this on the Yanks organization. Blame it on the people who are willing to pay the price for the tickets.

As for the stadium, after going there for so many yrs, I'm sad and excited at the same time.

I have mixed feelings about it. I grew up in the Bronx and have gone to hundreds of games. I am going to miss it dearly but I am also excited about the new Stadium since it looks like the original Yankee Stadium. I was fortunate to take my family last year to a Yankee game and also the Yankee Tour in which we got to sit in the Dugout!

If you can catch a game there because once it is gone, it is gone!
At least the new parks they're building have some style to them and it looks like they try to hang on to as much history as possible. And there aren't too many parks with more history than Yankee Stadium(this coming from a lifelong Red Sox fan!)

For example, the new Comiskey Park (or whatever it's called) is a joke. Yet, Cleveland, Baltimore, Detroit, etc appear to have done a good job.

There was talk in 1999 of a new Fenway. Having never been there, I jumped on a plane, saw a game and flew home. Today, Fenway still stands.

Someone owes me some money!
This sounds like what Omaha Nebraska has been going through with the possible demolition of the "ROSENBLATT STADIUM"-- home of the CWS. They need to come to some agreement with all involved or they could loose the CWS if a new stadium isn't built to satisfy all the criteria of the NCAA. Sometimes "new" is what needs to be done---with a little of the old drug along for prosterity sake! But this might be a subject for a new thread!!!
