For as long as I remember I have always put two fingers in the pinky slot causing the index finger slot to be empty. That's how my son wears his glove also.

This method causes the glove to bend in the center at the bottom rather than at the hinge at the base of the pinky.

I never could get comfortable placing the index finger outside the glove.

What's your method?

Among serious players does the method of wearing the glove seem to go along with their primary position or just personal preference and comfort?

Do coaches care how a player wears the glove?

Son does the same.

I see a lot of catchers do the same. I CAN'T catch that way!!!

I checked with my son last night. His hand hangs halfway out when using his fielder's glove but when catching he puts all his fingers in their respective slots and his hand is deeper into the mitt.
