Osage -- was he camped under it, or running after it?

If he's standing there waiting to catch it, and then it bounces off his glove and over the fence, it seems like it could legitimately be scored as an error (although the batter still gets to do the home-run trot).

The earned/unearned part is pretty black & white and entirely dependent on how the play was scored: if it's an error, they're both unearned. If not, then earned.

So tell us a little more about the attempted catch.

If the ball could've been fielded with ordinary effort for the level of play, score a four base error. If not, score HR.

If running back to the fence, it's difficult to conjure up a scenario in my mind where this is not a HR, but I suppose it could happen. None of us where there to see it, so you really have to decide yourself. The "ordinary effort" comment applies to any hit/error decision.
