I have been reading these messages for awhile and decided maybe I should join. I really like all the sound advice that is given here. I have a rising junior LHP, 6'2 throwing 86-87 mph and have been told to watch the ride start. I hope I can continue to count on sound advice from lots of people on here who seem to have similar experiences, both past and present.

veryproudmom,

Wow, congrats to you and your son, it sounds like he has a very bright future in baseball. With his velocity as an LHP at that age, he is definitely going to get noticed, and I hope you will learn a lot on this site about how to handle the wonderful adventure of the next few years. But if you want to do everything possible to support him in reaching his "baseball dreams", here is the one most important thing that I would advise:

Visit PGStaff's website at http://www.perfectgame.org, read about the kind of players who participate in their events, and then talk to PGStaff about how to get your son involved in a Perfect Game event in the near future. Good luck!

That kid sounds like the best is yet to come, for sure.

I was wondering about the age of HS kids. I have seen rising juniors that are now 6 months away from turning 16 and rising juniors who are 6 months away from turning 17. We all know how much difference one year makes at these ages.

Are the boys at say a PG event rated by HS class or DOB? I have a LHP rising junior who wont be 16 until the last week of December. He's 6 feet, just cracking 80mph. Would he be ranked lower because hes a rising junior regardless of his age?

In any case if he were a rising Soph (and he would be if he were born 7 days later) how different would things be for him?

Get with PG for a showcase or two. Ask away and good luck.

Dash,

PG ranks players by their class year. Later on, plenty of players deduct years from there age.

It is....what it is.
