I am a freshman and i am a starting pitcher for my high school freshman team. i am 15 years old and i am 5'7" and weigh 145 pounds. i throw about 70-72 mph and i was wondering if that is a good speed for my age and if im below average, average, or above average. I have a good change up and a good curveball but i question my fastballs speed. Do you know of any ways i can increase my velocity?

just wondering what yall think bout high school players throwing knuckleballs....im 18, sr pitcher and i throw bout 82-85, lefty, good curve 12-6 action, decent change up, and i throw a knuckleball that breaks down and in(good for backdoor drop-in)

should more pitchers go for knuckleball throwing? ive found it very helpful and i picked up throwing it accurately from the mound between junior year and senior year
I'm 6' 155lbs. 8th grader throwing 70-72mph good curveball but alot of babe ruth empires can't pick it up so I have to rely on that fastball too much at times, my change up is good when its on i can drop it down to 60mph but if its not working it doesn't find the strikezone. What should I do, just really work on the change?
When i was an eight grader, i threw about 65. i gained 15 mile an hour on my fastball over the next 13 months(I also got a lot bigger, height and weight, stronger). By the time my summer league team came around at the end of my freshman year, i hit 84 mph in a game. But that fall i injured my arm and was out for a long time. I am now a senior, and throw it between 85-88 mph, with a good curve and late breaking circle change. With my injury, do you think that i have reached my limit, or can i get better. Just wondering.

I'm not trying to be negative in any way to the guys on this post..and I know that people like to see where they compare to other people but this is how I see it. It shouldn't matter what your velocity is because as a pitcher you should always be looking for an advantage (ex. more velocity better pitches better location). Oh and AKBaseball 89 is pretty **** good..anyone hittin 90's anywhere is in good shape.
Just wondering out there...

At 13 14 15 how often do kids really get in front of a relaible radar gun?

Are you saying you throw 80 (or whatever velocity) when that is your max and you are throwing on average 74?

Also can you maintain the velocity or does it dropped significantly after a couple of innings.

There are a number of posts on this site about velocity and a 1000 ideas on how to increase velocity...some of it is just growing and God given talent, some is conditioning and a number of other things including hard work.

The 1 thing I know that does not increase velocity is wishing it did and posting velocity numbers based on what you think you might throw...or want to throw. Have a Goal and work at.
