I was always downright superstitious about making sure I'd get MY number back in the day. I think my son is the same way.
Are most players pretty particular about trying to get THEIR number?

* He wore it --- I framed it.
How can he wear "6" in basketball in school ball? It's an illegal digit. In high school and college the only allowable digits are 0 through 5. It's so the refs can signal fouls with their fingers. It's an old silly rule, but it exists. It's why my son couldn't wear 17 for basketball.quote:Originally posted by redsox8191:
For what ever reason son has picked #6 as his preferred number. No rhyme or reason to it. He wears it in baseball and basketball. For Middle School last year #6 was taken by an upperclassman so he took what they gave him #19. This year he'll be the upperclassman and take back his #6..lol.

The player makes the number, not the other way around.....

he's had every number under the sun at one time or another, however when he has a choice, he chooses #31 since his grandfather wore that number when he was with the phillies.....

Very clever screen name btw I was always a fan of someone who had that "late breaking" stuff in their arsenal. Is your son a pitcher?
