#1, #2 and #3 all wore the same number whenever they could. When they had to choose another (temporarily) they would choose one up or down from the favorite. Not sure why it started, but I can tell you it sure makes it easier for this poor, confused parent who would have had a hard time remembering what number to look for if it weren't always the same one!
L8Breaking, I like that name too. It took a while but with ClevelandDad's help it came right to me . But as they say ---- better L8 than never.
My son always says as long as he doesn't get a "spring training number" (like 83) he is OK w it. He doesn't want to be a short timer.
Hey, I think my son was 83 in spring training.
It looked good on him.
Warm sunshine, green cut grass, blue sky, a little breeze every now and then, crack of the bats, pop of the mitts, cleats on the walk, and in the sand, catchers barking, pitchers grunting, umpires calling the count, kids with pens.................
Yea, I liked 83 a lot.
I think there was even two guys with 83.

My son likes # 24 because I wore it playing basketball. I wore 24 because my favorite player was Billy Melchionni.
Anybody from Phila or NY area remember him?
I sure do..As well as Julius Erving, John Williamson, Billy Paultz and Brian Taylor... That was some team.. It was also around the time the Knicks were a championship team.
Was it me or did those red, white and blue ABA basketballs had a huge bounce to them. I seem to remember when shots bounced off the rim, the ball seemed like it bounced a mile high and they had to wait to make the rebound..LOL..
Since college, number is of no concern to baseball son,...but the team name on the front of the jersey means the world!
