How long can a kid play Varsity before it's too late to return to JV?

Help me out folks. I'm not sure if this is a UIL rule or not. I've heard that if a kid plays for Varsity for some period of time and even if he just sits the bench for them, he cannot return to play for JV after this period of time has elapsed. Please correct me and inform me with more details.

Nope. Seniors can't play JV and there are a fixed number of games/tournaments a kid can play in per season and "events" per school night per week.

But any non-sr. with games left can play on JV at anytime.
