My '06 son was very happy to have five schools call in March. All he is very interested in. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on how many calls a coaching staff might make in March, given that it is in season? 50, 100, 400? I have heard some speculation that maybe some were not aware of the new rule (although I find this hard to believe given this is their business).

Anyone care to speculate even if you don't know for sure?

I know I am out of my league-but i want to say thanks to GitErDone and BB27-this explains alot-
its chatsworth, Ga not CA and po-dunk baseball is our trait-the only exposure is summer ball-and unfortunately it was 15U last summer -not much chance for exposure there-This summer we will try for better PG and WWBA exposure hopefully not too late for DI possibilities -but I dont feel so bad about not getting phone call now
Thanks msdoc,

I have to admit it's a bit of a risk and little intimidating posting here. However I believe the spirit of this wonderful board is the sharing of both knowledge and experience. To use Tr's words I have been a lurker Cool for some time... just soaking up the info.

There are so many veterans here (TRHit, Justbaseball, BeenthereIL, dbg, infielddad and so on) that I have learned so much from who have been through the process with their sons, I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU applaude

If your boy played 15U last summer you will be fine

Thats puts him in the 16 U group this year which makes him eiher a soph or jr in HS , correct--- still plenty of time to get on the "radar screen" especially in your state where there is some great baseball if you travel a bit.

Feel free to call if you want to chat more about the process and do read the info here on this site under recruiting

Keep this in mind:

01-- In March coaches are more concerned with their season beginning than anything else.

02-- In March they are striving to lock in the 05 graduates so they they are spending their phone time there.

03-- Many coaches do not concern themselves with next years class until after they are done with this years class and their own season is open

04-- if coaches did occur they were probably to players high on the list for the coach

Would I be worried if I didnt get a call --not in the least--there is plenty of time

For the '06--- RIGHT NOW sit down and drop a note or post card to the coaches at the colleges you have interest in-- then follow up with an email

AND if it is of any consolation to you there aresome calls that take a day or two to be returned to me at this point in time--it is baseball season

Hope this helps you all
We received quite a few calls in March, (as an 06)and found that playing last summer in the Perfect Game underclass and 18 and the Junior Olympics in Jupiter were well scouted. Also, any close college showcases that have a handful of colleges represented are good and less expensive. The more exposure the better. If you have an interest in a particular school, attned one of their camps. Most schools offer a High School camp in the summer.
