they will not make 35 man roster before end of fall semester?

Coach Polk said he will let his guys know so they can transfer if they want to.

NCAA doesn't require this, the 35 man roster just needs to be posted before start of season.

I feel the coaches who don't inform guys are wrong.
I would like everyone's feedback.

I would like to think that all coaches would do their best to assess each players status with the team and for those who they feel are on the bubble, provide that player or players every opportunity to move prior to the deadline. I'm sure there will be some coaches that will even help with that process.
I know the question wasn't asked of me, but we have lots of experience with this program. While they did sign what seems like too many recruits during the early signing period, there are a couple things that need to be considered.

1 - Lots of young players really want to go to Georgia! Those that make it will be very happy and of course, very talented.

2 - The coaching staff is exellent, led by head coach Dave Perno. Jason Eller (recruiting coordinator) is someone we see at all our top events and he is one of the hardest working and most knowledgable recruiters in college baseball.

3 - This recruiting class is full of players we have ranked very high in pgcrosschecker.com, some of these players will in all likelyhood not end up on campus and will be playing professional baseball very soon.

4 - People like to jump to conclusions when they first see something and then everything becomes silent after it all plays out.
I certainly hope that the coaches will do more than just let the player know they will not make the 35 man roster on a timely basis, for those guys who they made promises to have a chance of getting on the roster, I hope if the player wants to transfer, they help them by getting get in contact with other coaches and find a roster position for them.

The challenge will be to find a school which has their needs and what is going to happen with the bubble guy on the receiving school, they will be totally blind sided by the incoming player, but that is the nature of the business.

For the programs which over recruit and try to hedge their bet, why would they continue to recruit the top players who most likely not show up on campus, other than for the press and the potential that the player will make it to campus? What happens if they do not sign, then they will continue to be stuck with a situation that forces other players off the roster or they will find that they will need to back fill their recruiting class because they did sign and others leave due to the draft that they did not expect...

PG...I absolutely agree with that assessment above. I know many of these kids and have seen them play over the past 2-3 years and boy howdy are they talented! My mouth literally drops open when I see this crop of players listed on Georgia's list. It will be quite fun over the next few years watching them play and develop.

Because none of really know how all this is going to play out I suppose we all will be surprised when cuts, transfers, etc. begin. My heart will go out to those players and parents whose dreams ended more quickly than they had all hoped. Just to be recruited and signed by a major D1 is an absolute honor that I hope they will always remember.

My son just committed to an NAIA college yesterday and I can't help but wonder how many D1 or D2 kids will be on the roster next year when he arrives. It would be nice to see some of these kids on the roster for I feel it will help the team compete.

At this point, does anyone feel that these players and/or parents have already begun to contact D2's, NAIA's, JUCO's, D3's, etc...??
