We had a small class this year, 20 or so are trying out. There are about 8 ball players, 5 or 6 that can fill a spot, the rest must live in a dream world. I expect that 5 or 6 will go straight to the JV. It's going to be a long year for the freshman team.
There are two kids who have tried out that I'm not sure if they know what game they are trying out for. One took his place a short, couldn't stop any grounders hit to him, then when he did pick one up that had stopped rolling, he through it about 10 feet. The other told the coach he didn't play the field, he only pitched. The coach had him take some throws at first. He did catch, some, but then couldn't throw it all the way to home.
