Great post Steve, you have given Ev a great opportunity, me and nancy greatly appreciate it. Although the exposure is nice, we enjoy watching him compete against the very best, and with your team that is certainly the case. He will only get better playing with and against the best competition that is out there. Without you, and companies like Perfect Game that wouldn't be possible.

Bullwinkle,
Let us in on your secret, where do you find 30 scouts gathered watching a game and it did not cost anything to play?
Just curious ?

Play on a BA ranked HS team (free)
HS CIF Championship (free)
Team One Nationals (free, only drive to UNLV, stay with friends in Vegas)
Scout Ball (free)
Connie Mack World Series (free)
Play on same travel team as overall #1 pick, and this years MVP of Apply league (free)
Bullwinkle,
That's pretty darn impressive, but the norm for the majority of players?, I don't think so.

Bullwinkle, your HS program is free? You must live in a great state :-).
A little off-topic but related: HS Baseball seems to be a much better venue for kids getting exposure to college/pro levels than in other sports. I've heard that for sports like s****r (futbol) and Volleyball, the club seasons tend to be far more important for college recruiting than the HS seasons.

We have a great HS Booster program....
They run fund raisers to pay for all the kids to play (Varsity, JV and Freshman) The idea is if the kid wants to play and can make the team, $ should not be an issue.
BTW, the Head Varsity Coach has made it very clear that the boosters have no input in playing time, etc.

Bullwinkle,
I'm pretty sure that all of these things are not F-R-E-E. No matter what the price, these opportunities are not available to everyone.

The closing statement in the opening post by limom disturbs me a bit---"Glad we are entering the last year"
I find it a bit odd for a parent who "appears" to be so deeply involved in your sons baseball life to make such a statement. I am ten years removed from the last year and I still miss the fun and excitement. The monies involved mattered not-- it was the intended result that was key
If you are glad it is the last year why are you even bothering ?//

He is a guy now?
Truly I am serious when I say it---why make a statement like that?
How many where glad they enetered the last year ??
I know I wasn't! I would have liked to see it go on forever

I believe he is a guy. No offense...I take offense to some of his postings also....but....this is an interesting thread...and is there anything really wrong with what he said? I don't understand....mixed emotions are common...when raising teenagers...It kind of looks like you're out to get him...on anything you can....I'll apologize now... if I'm wrong.

No problem
The final line in the post still disturbs me
We are all here trying to help the kids--being glad it is the final year truly sends the wrong message

That is the investment and the reward

Gotta agree with TRHit. That too bothers me. For me, GOD I don't want it to ever end!
What I could afford (or talk myself into) more than some and not nearly as much as others. But I enjoy every dime of it because both my boys, on the ball field, are button bustin sources of pride for me.
My new license plate will be "CHASNDRM"

TRhit & Dadchs24 ... just remember that you get to start all over again when your grandson starts Tee-Ball.
It's going to cost me an additional $20.00 this year for baseball entertainment this winter. I am sending a money order so that I can remain anonymous to the HSBBW.
Thank you HSBBW for this forum. I am dropping my therapist for Christmas. Look for my money order in the mail.
Sincerely,
limom84 (I'm for real!)
