Middle School. Son was in 7th grade and starting catcher even though the coach hated him. (Coach would yell out 100 year old cues that meant nothing and was pissed that my kid would ask him what they meant and how they would help him play better.)  Anyway, kid was by far the best defensive catcher he had...so he had to play him...except one time.

Playing the worst MS team in the conference. Everyone beat them and by a lot. Coach sees this as a freebie and benches my son and plays a kid at catcher who was challenged.

Lots of WP, PB and SB follow. The game actually ends up tied heading into the bottom of the 7th. A walk, a bunt and SB later, there's a runner on 3rd with one out.

Passed ball walkoff. The poor kid who was catching cried his eyes out the entire bus ride home. Parents came up to me after the game and asked why my son wasn't catching. All I could say was "Coach's decision. He was able and available if needed."

That's the only time I ever saw a PB walkoff.

Rubber match, first round of playoffs. Bottom 7, son’s team is down 3-1, arm in the mound has only given up 3 hits all game. And here we go….

Leadoff double.
