I need to buy some baseballs 2-3 dozen or so. wow there are so many to chose from. This is for a HS pitcher to throw into a wall and for outfield fly balls. HS uses raised seams? What's the diff from rolled seams? what brand do you prefer, dislike ? Who do u buy from? Any and all info is appreciated.

Throw into a wall???  You mean throw against a wall?  If you're going to do that, buy the cheapest balls you can find...as even the best balls will be toast after hitting the wall 3 or 4 times if thrown over 60mph.  Why not buy a bunch of cheap balls for throwing against a wall or outfield practice...and just a couple good ones for pitching.  I prefer Diamond D1...as that's what most teams up here use as game balls.  Never been a fan of Rawlings...as my son, who is a pitcher just doesn't like the feel of them.  You can also pick up used balls on ebay....there is always someone selling a couple or three dozen used balls...though they are almost as expensive as buying new.

Agree that any ball will be trashed after throwing at a wall a few times.  I would suggest investing in a pitchers target net like an Atec Pro pitchers practice screen.  As compared to throwing against a wall, it will quickly pay for itself in saving your baseballs.  Even a blanket thrown over a clothesline will work.

The problem with buying the cheapest balls is that they will have covers that feel like vinyl, will go lobsided easier and won't carry like a ball should.  If you get the cheapest ball marked NFHS, that is usually a good starting point for a decent ball with decent seams and cover.  Some sites (like baseball express, i believe) show cut-aways of the ball when you go into the detail level.  Short version - the more "layers" inside, the better the ball.  If you are spending less than $32/doz, you'll probably be disappointed.

Being able to go to a store and feel a ball is quite helpful but you usually pay a premium for balls at the mass sporting goods stores.  If you have a local team dealer with some retail presence, that would be a place to go to get a fair per-dozen price.

How did you get a picture of my garage siding ? As a couple of people have already said don't throw hard balls at walls. But what do I know we still play catch in the back yard with tee balls.
