I realize this is a vague question, but how can someone rate another players hitting, based upon what they do one time in a cage, in a showcase game, or even a tournament? Do scouts/evaluators/recruiters/coaches look at mechanics, results, other variables? After playing baseball for eleven years, I fail to see how someone can judge a players ability to hit unless the person watching watches a stretch of games over an extended period of time.

Hitters CENTER balls ALL the time. In the cage, in a showcase, in a tournament, in bp before a game. If a guy can hit he ain't hittn balls into the top of the cage whether it be in a tunnel or live on the field. When they center it it jumps off the bat and the swing is loose and it is done with movement to create momentum and it happens from the core.

All things seeable by a trained eye in one round of BP whether it be in a cage in a tunnel or a cage on the field in live bp.

There is a distinct different look from a guy who can hit as oppossed to a guy who can swing as oppossed to a guy who is a hacker.
