ANd that is where the retention of pitch recognition comes in...starting to visualize it now BlueDog. peace

CoachB25, certainly....The swing is the same and timing is the key to hitting either pitch.....
That's why pitch recognition is so important.....On an offspeed pitch, the front foot stays in the air a little longer before rotation begins........
You can't and shouldn't try to teach timing, IMO.....However, teaching recognition of pitch location and speed is very important.....
and that brings us back to the drill we were doing last week when I got drilled in the ribs. WE AGREE 100%! That also brings us back to the comment I made about drills having their place but then those drills have to be incorporated into some type of structured purposeful batting practice. Throwing fastballs for the sake of claiming you're coaching hitting just doesn't get it done. JMHO!

CoachB25, so true......Hitters should not know what pitch is coming on any pitch, in any hitting practice....Anything other than this, is doing a disservice to your players......
CoachB25, even in drills I change the swing plane from swing to swing.....Whether it's off a tee, dry swinging or hitting wiffle balls.......
I want a consistent repeatable swing with a change in posture on every pitch or tee and dry swing location.....A hitter should know how to hit any pitch location if they need to.....

Shep, just the tip of the iceberg....But, a good start, nonetheless....

Your clueless.
Your clueless.
I agree....
Amen, posture is mentioned. Once posture goes all power (and consistancy) is lost. Instantly.
Hitting is movement and posture is the basis of all proper movement.

And posture is different for very kid

I would strongly advise anyone and everyone who has a desire to understand high level swing technique to pay close attention to the above statement by Jon Doyle and understand what he means.....

TRhit, you don't understand what Jon Doyle is saying......
Ted Williams would never make it in this league.
Good posture is the same for everybody. Although not everyone has good posture.
Good posture between individuals does not always look the same to the naked eye, but is the same.
Not sure if the Ted Williams post was about posture but he had perfect posture at contact.

TRhit, this is a good opportunity for you to learn something about the correct use of posture in the swing..........
TRHIT, whats your take on posture?
Vance, his idea of posture is, well, he has no idea............
