Since I have seen many of Howards game, they do play with class on the field and off. If you know any of these boys, which many of you do including KG and Natural, then I have a hard time understanding why you would agree with something that you have not seen about boys you like and respect. They cheer for their players, they have done it all 57 games, they happen to be a very tight knit group. I'm pretty sure they couldn't win 57 games with just the cheering. So with all due respect Coach Slick, give credit where credit is due and don't make comments "but if you gotta resort to that to win 56" when that isn't what has gotten them this far.
I don't think anyone on here is taking a jab at the players and/or the team. I'm sure all of us can agree that these guys deserve a tremendous amount of respect for what they have accomplished on the field this season. The numbers do not lie.

The chanting on the other hand is bush. The argument that "they are just having fun" doesn't give it any justification. I could list about 50 things that are "fun" but have no place on the baseball field.

Please note that I stated I have not seen Howard play one game...

I simply stated playing the game the right way should happen regardless of the W/L column.

That statement alone had nothing to do with Howard. As I mentioned before, their record is an unbelievable feat.
Mom, I really didn't mean to stir something up that huge, I just really feel that the chanting and such takes away from the things they have done. Not saying it ruins it but I just feel it is not necessary nor warranted. Not that I have final say on things and certainly don't want to come across that way but to be honest with you, watching them sit there and chant and such was not MY idea of how a BASEBALL game is supposed to be played!! They do PLAY the game with class and such and seemed to respect it ON the field, just not the same from the dugout. To ME ( again and just ME )I think this comes across as summer ball or softball and doesn't represent quality COLLEGE baseball.

I don't think you could list 25 things.

Somebody is always going to find something to be negative about when someone is having sucess and they can't stand it. Sounds like sour grapes to me. I really enjoyed watching them play on Sunday. I don't think the chanting has nothing to do with them winning. That is one tough line up that Howard puts on the field and at the plate.
WOW - this thread has taken an interesting twist... I know one of the players at HC, very good kid, he was a part of GED10's life before transferring there mid-term. NO DOUBT they can play, incredible year for the program, as far as "playing" the game.

But, I know for a fact, letters have been written to the University President regarding the "behavior" of some of the players in general, and the behavior of one asst. coach, specifically.
I know that the language from the dugout and bullpen, directed at the opposing players and fans far surpasses "passion" for the game. W/O trying to circumvent the HSBBW filters, let's just say vulgar and unacceptable fails to accurately describe what I saw and heard in the series with Western Texas.

IMO, it's not sour grapes. I beleive they have superb talent, but it saddens me to see great talent without character and good sense. Or, at a minimum, restraint.

pioneer,

I hear what you are saying but can't really like the final statement....."It's JUCO!!" As if to say that it is inferior or a level that illicits behavior that can be deemed questionable. I just know for a fact that teams can get out of hand once questionable behaviors are allowed. This chanting, again IN MY OPINION, can be viewed as a symptom of some type of OVER TOLERANCE of questionable behavior / decisions. Sour grapes?? Not at all, more power to the great job on the field but there is more to it than just winning games. SERIOUSLY!! And EVEN at the JUCO level expectations should be kept lofty.
NRPMom... you know that I care for and respect your son. I was simply agreeing with KG as I am not a fan of chanting from dugouts. No knock on anyone intended. HC and it's players are to be congratulated on a spectacular season and I am glad everything is going so well for NRP. No offense intended. See ya soon!
Howard won 4-3 in the 10th.

Temple took the leed in the top of the 9th when the pitcher made a throwing error to first on a bunt and the runner from 1st scored.

J. Letherige hit a homer in the bottom of the 9th to tie and Runey Davis hit in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.

From what I heard it was a great game that could have gon either way.
I took in the great game in Ft. Worth today.

What a nail biter.

Both teams showed a lot of fight and there were many big plays that kept the game close.

In regards to the antics that may or may not have been taking place, I thought both teams played with grace. Now I could have done without the clapping games, but I didn't hear any negative jabbing from either team. Just good honest fun and a hard nosed game.

Congrats to both teams and let's cheer our Texas team on as they represent in the Jr. College World Series.
