Andy has been a hard nosed Pete Rose type player ever since I started following him at Vol State four years ago. He is one of those guys that’s done it all everywhere he has been and deserves everything that life has to offer because he worked hard for it. He has been a great role model too! I don’t know how many times I have told both my sons that Andy’s approach and attitude to the game of baseball was what it was all about.
I first talked to “Bob” back in 1999/2000 when Josh was being recruited. Bob helped us to look for the signs of a good fit and it couldn’t have worked out better for him. His senior year was like a three ring circus with all the pro scouts coming to the high school games and bob gave us good advice then too.
Years later son #2 chose to follow in Andy’s footsteps at Vol State. Dane worked hard to be judged on his own abilities. He threw a no hitter this last weekend at Engel Stadium against the East Cobb Brewers.
I will be listening for Andy’s name on Monday and Tuesday to see where he goes. I will be as excited as his dad when his name is called because all the young men on this site have become like family. Isn’t it funny how people you never met in person can become such great friends?
