This sounds familiar to a situation here in NC that recently led to the firing of a really good baseball coach. He has ran an indoor hitting facility for years. He took over a program that was terrible and had not won in many years. He came in and turned the program around in only a couple of years. Kids from surrounding schools started to transfer in to get coached by him and his staff. The parents of the players already in the program complained and the coach was let go.
It seems the parents of existing players thought it was unfair for players to transfer in and take their kids posistions. The players that transferred in were legal transfers being that they moved into the school district in order to attend that school. Alot of hs coaches give private lessons at least around here. Several coach in the summer and fall (showcase teams).
I can not see charging any player that plays for you in hs at anytime but thats just me. There is probaly more to this story anyway.
It's ok for a student athlete to transfer to another school for athletics? The UIL, governing body of state HS sports in Texas, will not allow this. They have cases on a yearly basis that go to a review board that rule whether or not a student should be eligible to play if they feel he/she transferred due to athletics. This only applies to state public schools as the private schools have their own governing body.
