Ok, so we have a HS that does not have a baseball program. It is there but to me, it is like a high end rec. league. At this point discussions with the coach, AD and principal have done nothing to rectify the situation. Just trying to get through it, but it is very unfair to the kids.

Suggestions?

Love this website, first post, lurking for a long time.

Thanks Wedge, and welcome. Tough situation out west as well. Hang in there.

Sdlefty,

I don't know what your situation is, so it would be difficult for me or anyone else to give you suggestions. Hopefully you can work it out and give your son an opportunity to play with his friends at the HS. If not, contact Mike Spiers and look into the ABCL Woodbat Spring League. I believe there's some information in the California Forum? Good Luck.

Lets just say that everything is backwards. Never on time, no communication, no commitment, nothing! The worst part, the kids suffer. Many kids have the ability to play at the next level, but they cannot even work on their game. One kid is a D1 commit and can't get his work in.

I understand the first part of it. The second part of it is on the players. What do they do the rest of the year when the HS season is going on to get the work in? We have had kid go to various type of schools and we always tell them it is up to them to find a way to get better. Self motivation goes a long way.

When the season is over the gates to the field and cages are locked. The kids can't get in. Most play club ball over the summer, and that team cannot get on the field either.

The program is not a good enough excuse for not getting to the next level. All these players have to do is get in the right summer program. It's up to the players whether they want it or not. Anything else is just excuses.
