This is so often the problem with paying for a video to be done either at a showcase or other third party.  It's sort of like choosing the right travel team/organization or instructor.  You have to do enough preliminary research to assure that your player will be put in the best light possible and that his true skill set will be maximized and shown accordingly.

That said, two other thoughts...

From what you share, it does seem to reflect some accuracies of the player's shortcomings.  Also, as far as how to handle the conversation, it depends on how good a friend he is and how much poker money you stand to lose

Not very much, but I honestly have no clue what people charge for these.  Almost everything I see in this video can easily be done with an iPhone.  4K or 1080P video and iMovie.  The only other piece is having the Pocket Radar velos embedded into the video.  That's done via their Smart Coach product which is $399, so for that much money and a phone you likely already have, you can do this video and many more in the future.  Grab a friend or 2 to go in on the Smart Coach and drive that cost down even further.

For what its worth....

Using free video editing software I created my son's highlight video by splicing together live game action, along with a couple of showcase clips.  For the game swings I always cited the opponent and tournament to show the quality of competition.  I started and ended the video with a summary of his measurables, metrics and contact info.

His travel coach and a couple of D1 coaches said that it was effective in drawing attention.  It cost us nothing, but it did take me a good 8 - 10 hours of work.  (Should also say that I video almost all of his at bats so I had plenty of content to work from).

Very much agree with this.  Got the Smart Coach and have been sharing with his one friend he's allowed to train with. Our kids are tech savvy, figuring out how to edit clips is second nature to them.  My guy is basically editing his progress weekly, and posting if there are gains on any front to YT.  No reason to pay top dollar for any of this stuff, and the current situation has coaches much more responsive, if not temporarily fully reliant, on this kind of video.

Mburtner, I agree with the above.  Plus in your particular case I think you could cut a minute off the video with some careful edits and not lose any effect.  When I looked at the stats on how long coaches actually spent watching my son's videos, it was rarely over a minute.  Knowing that, he front loaded his best stuff.
