Hopeful for a full season this year (and that he makes the team). 2023 MIF/RHP. Worked hard all off season - arm care, hitting, weights and eating. Still on the small side (young 2023) but working on it.

good luck to him. don't worry about the size thing. my son has a friend who was on the smaller (and softer/pudgy) side last year as a frosh. he found 6 covid inches and is 5'11" and still going now. Son has another friend (2022) who is a 5'6" d1 commit. dude just plain outworks others on the field and in the weight room.
Good luck!
Best of luck, remind the kid what he does in the dug out is just as important on the field. They are always watching.
Tryouts already? We just started practicing here. Son has second practice today! Good luck to your son!
Texas HS baseball starting today with practices and tryouts!!! Saw a school or two who had midnight practices. That was awesome! Looked like fun. Good luck to all this season!!
Tryouts for our South Texas school (5A) are today and tomorrow. With the all year baseball class and the known players, seems to be figured out mostly before tryouts even start. Small-ish town, Everyone that plays ball knows who the ball players are. There are very few surprises where kids land, on the JV and Varsity rosters.
I'm surprised you guys have practice before tryouts. Anywhere I have ever lived that had tryouts had them the first days and cut the kids then started practice. We may have done workouts before tryouts but not practice. Are you guys talking practice or workouts?
We have baseball class here in a lot of the schools (TX), so it is practice. They usually schedule it as the last class of the day so it just bleeds into the after school practice. After cuts, kids transfer out of the class. Older guys usually know where they stand before tryouts.
This brings back memories of my son's tryout. He was on the smaller side. The good ole days now as I reflect and back then we were in the whirlwind of HS baseball and making the team/varsity and playing time. Enjoy it, best of luck to your sons.

It is almost like college and walk on tryouts. The coaches pretty much know who is going to be on the team. The varsity kids who are in baseball class and returning pretty much don't try out. Coach runs a separate practice for them while new kids or kids who didn't make the team the previous year are going through tryouts.
A player can’t control height. He can control preparation, effort and attitude.
Ours is more of a workout. They do fielding throwing and hitting. With basketball ball going on, not all kids are there so this is more of a “winter workout”.
"Voluntary" workout started on the 7th here, with official practice starting on the 18th. Tryouts are part of the practice process for JV/V, and a few have been cut already. Freshman team has official tryouts next week.
Today they have their first intramural scrimmage, 17 innings. Gorgeous day for it, with a high of 60 anticipated. Wishing parents could watch, but no parents on grounds this year for anything other than official games.
