Danny Hultzen formerly of Saint Albens has worked his way as a freshman to be the UVA's Friday night starter. His record is 4-0 and he was recognized as the ACC Pitcher of the Week -- last week. His ERA is below 2.0 and he has been unbelievable in his effectiveness --- pitching consistently in the 90 - 93 mph.

Nick Routt, formerly of Saint Johns College High School as a freshman --- has earned the Saturday and/or Sunday starting pitcher slot for Southern Miss. He has been extremely effective on the mound also earning a winning record in the very competitive SCC.

Both kids reside in Maryland and pitched for their respective schools in the District of Columbia.

Has anyone heard how Kevin Brady is doing down at Clemson?

Just some info for you....Mark Prior and Kerry Wood had a couple of the highest pitcher abuse point totals in all of baseball prior to their injuries. It had nothing to do with the protocols he/they were following.

He is fine. The important factor is that his mechanics are "perfect" and his motion is effortless (according to a pro scout that I sat with last week). He is very, very special to watch - The UVA pitching coach is very well respected and follows the "Tom House" preparation routines. No problems

Our game with UVA is rained out for tomorrow night and I was looking forward to it. This Hultzen kid is amazing! Not only is he arguably the best pitcher in the ACC this year, he is a two-way player. I did not even realize that when this thread was started. All the best to the young man. What a future
