... but somebody here should probably post about a certain someone being invited to Spring Training with the big club. That's going to get some folks excited, particularly fans of a club that too often don't have much else to get excited about.

I believe this is known as having a small investment pay off big. I think most folks have gotten past the idea of him joining the MLB team and it is morphing into a feel good story. Never a huge fan of the whole idea, but sort of glad he was able to silence most of the jokes. Hopefully he can walk away and say he made a real effort but simply came up short in the end. Maybe they could pull him up for one game just before they release him - give him one at-bat. Sort of like a Moonlight Graham but actually getting that one AB.
Rafael Palmiero???

That’s my team. Let’s go Mets!
He has been invited to camp, as most older guys are.
Some clubs will do anything to create a buzz or sell Spring season tickets. It is a business, correct?
I admit I was one of those baseball guys that questioned the former Heisman Trophy winner and Nissan pitchman's ability to hit a baseball. I was even so bold as to suggest that other HSBBWeb posters should PM me when the "Exalted One" hit over the Mendoza line of .225. Well, in all that excitement apparently he hit .226 in A and A+ minors. So, I'm absolutely thrilled for Mets fans everywhere.
PS...In fact, I was in Naples this past week playing some golf with 3 Mets fans & college buddies who were planning a Mets Spring Training trip to "Meet the 2018 Mets" and get a glimpse of ol' Timmy. Sadly, I will miss that trip. I have better things to do...like rearrange my sock drawer.

Let's see. I'll put the red tube socks over here. The red ankle socks on this side. The red dress socks in the middle...

Damn, I'm getting old. When did they move the Mendoza line on me?

He was extremely hot his first month in A+, then equally cold his second month (176/244/222, while striking out 27% of the time).
But hey, anything likely to weigh down other NL East teams is worth rooting for just for the 1-in-a-100 shot the Phillies have of catching all the breaks they need to make a WC run...
