I wanted to share with you something very special from some of my students. My Father-in-Law passed away this past Thursday after a week of extremes for our family. He was as strong as an ox and suddenly Saturday, a week ago, had an aortic aneurysm. From that moment, my families life was in turmoil. He had less than a 10% chance of making it and was helicoptered over to St. Louis University Hospital. He had 2 seperate 5 hour surgeries and had a heart attack during this past week. Despite their best efforts, he passed away. Then, came all of the "stuff" that goes with the loss of a loved one. My Wife asked me to try and keep my daughter's life as normal as possible knowing what the funeral would bring. Therefore, I went to work each day last week so that my daughter would see me in the classroom as she attended school. The kids knew how bad it was. Word goes through small towns rapidly. Well, today, I knew something was up in my 6th hour class. At the end of my class, just as I was getting ready for the closure for the lesson, one of the students stood up and handed me a home made card. On the inside all of the kids had written me a note thanking me for all that I do for them and for coming to work last week. I'm going to think of them every time I hear one of those "kids these days" comments. Kids these days, THEY SURE ARE GREAT! I am so blessed!
