The burning desire.

The anger - and the fury - and the utter disgust of those who did you harm.

And the way it translates into everything you do now.

And the way it teaches you about the real world.

And with every hit - and every play - and every breath you take - the overwhelming desire to tell all of the *****s who tried to hurt you - or did hurt you- "Watch this, fools".

Some dudes just dont go to the canvas easily.

You spend a good piece of your life gripping a baseball, and in the end it turns out that it was the other way around all the time. ~Jim Bouton, Ball Four, 1970

I’m sorry, but I don’t “get it” and don’t understand why y’all can’t just come out and say what ya mean. What I saw was that there was a shot at people who either don’t play or don’t coach and that they shouldn’t be allowed to express their opinions about the game like they were stupid, and it was very similar to a post made the other day that got deleted.

If that’s what you guys are saying, why not say it? Since the players are the only ones actually “playing the game”, why not just call everyone who isn’t a player a jerk, then ban them from posting anything? Oops. That means no more coaches get to post, and no more parents either, let alone just regular old fans of the game.
I look at things with a bit of a different slant. I recommend that you play the game because you love it, in spite of all of your negative experiences. Here is an excerpt from the FCA competitors creed, I think that the entire creed is worht a read to keep things in perspective:

"My attitude on and off
the field is above reproach -
my conduct beyond criticism.
Whether I am preparing,
practicing or playing;
I submit to God's authority
and those He has put over me.
I respect my coaches, officials,
teammates and competitors
out of respect for the Lord.

I give my all - all of the time.
I do not give up. I do not give in.
I do not give out. I am the Lord’s warrior -
a competitor by conviction
and a disciple of determination.
I am confident beyond reason
because my confidence lies in Christ.
The results of my efforts
must result in His glory."

Thank you Spinedoc, This is the attitude we expect from our Son. This keeps things in the proper perspective with a healthy positive attitude.

I have copied and saved the creed and will create a
framed version of it for my Son's wall.
scorekeeper,
In defense of iitg, no hidden secret encoded message. And I don't think a webster here since 2002 has to translate meanings of his/her posts. If you get it, fine, if not, move on. The post wasn't intended to insult anyone here.

I think what he is stating is that the only important results are those played out, IN THE GAME, not on paper, not in polls, not in written hype. And not beleiving and casting aside other's negative opinions makes for a great motivator.

That wasn't too difficult to understand was it?

I know it's really, really hard to see...but if you use your imagination...I mean really stretch it...you can see me giving the "Thumbs Up!" sign from the cockpit.

Perhaps this "close up" will bolster my boast...or maybe not.
