I know too that I asked this before but didn't get many responses...
Is there a hs volleyball web? I have a freshman daughter who is interested in playing college - level volleyball. It sure would be great to find an equivalent site! (Hard pressed to meet the quality here, I know!)
She is a 5'9" Left handed setter/opposite and lays on her varsity team. She has had a little interest, which is very exciting for her, especially after watching her big bro go through this with baseball...
Any help is appreciated.

Maybe you can get some information here:

I certainly don't pretend to an expert on this, but so much of the information on this site could be used for any sport. The timeline info would be much the same, the use of travel or club teams and camps to get "on the radar", and the contacting of coaches at the schools that interest you. Really, other than sharing the stories of volleyball hopefuls, this site's info could be applied to most other college sports.

The football and basketball recruiting landscapes are vastly different than baseball...as I am finding out with son #2.
We are looking for " specific " information about nationally ranked club teams, camps, instructors, etc. For us personally, things out here in the midwest operate a little differently than California.
Right now my freshman daughter isnt looking for exposure, she's looking for avenues to continue to learn. In my opinion, a website like the HSBBW, set up for volleyball, would be much more than just a recruiting time line.

It would be a valued wealth of information and support. Would be nice to exchange ideas and information about conditioning, equipment, drills, coaching tips, places to stay if traveling, etc.

It would be especially helpful to have a volleyball source, ( in line to what the HSBBW does for baseball ), to get others opinions on certain camps, leagues, lessons, and instructors before investing monetarily and time commitment wise, into such venues.

When looking for a needle in a haystack, its always nice to be able to first find the haystack. Big Grin

Football is the only sport left not playing at the club/travel level. With every other sport club teams are the lead in recruiting. My son's high school s****r coach (for better or worse) doesn't even get involved. He does with his club/travel kids.

Can you imagine a football showcase tournament. "Boys, it's going to be a tough weekend. We have four games." Smile

I have a daughter playing volleyball at Columbia University and a son playing baseball at Birmingham Southern. Regarding volleyball recruiting, generally, the Ivy League spends a good portion of its recruiting budget in California and the Northeast, and they just don't get to see players form elsewhere. My daughter had every intention to play college s****r, and was recruited by a few good DI programs, but none of which she wanted to attend. She was invited to walk on the S****r team at Columbia and was passed over, so what does every great athlete do in this situation. Well, decide to play volleyball instead!!! She made the team last year and is now playing regularly.

I think volleyball recruiting is similar to baseball and you have to find the right fit. There is not much beyond college volleyball...beach volleyball and European Volleyball, but very few even elite players opt for that route. There is no college draft...etc. Mostly, the players play for the shear fun of the sport and pride in their college. There are very few websites devoted to volleyball and not much in the way of recruiting advice is out there. One has to adapt the information on hsbaseballweb to volleyball and most of it translates well, in terms of finding the right school.

PM me if you want to know more about Columbia Volleyball or college volleyball in general.
Thanks everyone for the information! The Rich Kern site is really wonderful! It is a site that kids can make up a page about themselves and link it to any emails and videos they want to send. It also has some helpful articles on it similar to the ones on here.
And thanks too for the tip on Columbia, LL - I will be talking with you once season is over.
Thanks! Once again, baseball people come through!
Well, I've asked before and I'll ask again!! What about high school girls basketball websites that offer the fantastic content and support of hsbaseballweb?? I've got a sophomore who wants the same recruiting experience as older brother/pitcher..but I've not had any luck finding information that isn't totally regional in focus.

Once again..this website sets the standard for all.
