the next...1,

Congratulations, that must be exciting to receive your first recruiting letter a little early. Definitely do write back! In your reply, you should thank them for the letter, let them know that you are interested and would like to attend their school, and tell them a little about yourself, even if you think they already know this. You said the letter was from the school, but if it was specifically from the baseball coach or recruiter, you might tell them your position, the high school you attend, and your year in school. Then let them know that you would appreciate continuing to receive information from them about the baseball program and any camps coming up. They will know what kind of contact they can and cannot make in the next couple of years once you mention your year in HS. But definitely let them know you are interested in the school. Most college coaches do not have a lot of time to spend recruiting, so they will continue to recruit those players who seem interested in their school.

Good luck!
You don't have to be a Junior to start the recruiting process. Whenever you receive a recruiting letter you should acknowledge the contact by completing any forms they have asked you to fill out and return them promptly with a cover letter. The letter should be short, thank them for their interest in you as a student-athlete, let them know of your interest in their program, give them a spring schedule if you have one, and let them know where they might see you play in the future (summer showcase, major tournament, travel team, etc.). Good luck and congratulations on the early attention! Smile
