If you have to "mask" the pain there are issues. As Texan says "take a rest" and then go see a doc if the pain persists or you could end up watching games instead of playing.

Sometimes younger players have this perception that the more I throw the better I'll be. It's not always about how many reps, it's about quality reps and the associated workouts and the recovery that goes with it.

SB17 - heed the advice you are getting...Icy Hot is for getting past temporary stiffness and for us old guys to use just to get moving. If you are using it regularly, you probably have a problem. See somebody before it turns into a BIG problem. I used it by the tub-full for a couple years before I found out I had a torn rotator cuff [I was already 'OLD' by then - 35 - but I needed it on my throwing arm to play softball and flag football].

rest may just be the tickewt, but see see an ortho/sports med guy before it's too late.

not a fan of icy hot, i just take advil right after i pitch. if my arm is a bit sore and i have to pitch anyway ill take a couple about 30 minutes before i start throwing.

your arm should not be hurting if you give yourself proper time to rest. also run a couple miles after you throw especially if your a pitcher, trust me its the best thing for you.

I would strongly encourage all pitchers to avoid doing this. Masking your pain prior to pitching is just an unwise and dangerous thing to do.

Grate advice. Wink Should be heeded.
