you should see SOFTBALL parents!

I coach my 10 year old daughter's team and HOLY COW...they are psycho! The parents wanted to hold a prent meeting becase I wasn't "practicing them hard enough". Roll Eyes We practice 2x per week and work on nothing but the fundamentals.

Hi RedBird! Our 13U son plays on travel team with non-dad coaches now, so my husband and I were looking forward to coaching our daughter's 10U softball team this spring. Our daughter played her first season of kid pitch in the fall for another coach and now refuses to play. She got tired of being one of only 3 kids at practice (herself and the coaches kids) and getting run-ruled every game. During the fall season, one of the parents actually complained to the league director that "little Sally's" team never won games and she never got to pitch. Huh??? Sally never once came to practice and could not throw overhand - much less pitch a fast-pitch softball.

We thought it was just a fluke in our town that the softball parents were nutty.
Our U11 LL team has some trouble focusing especially during practice. The kids never get punished, they might get a verbal warning or something and thats it. I told them the kids need to run more. but the coaches say no, some parents complain. I think kids needs to run, it helps them focus, it lets them know the coach means it. As a coach on the team , im tired of telling the kids 3-5 times to do something, my voice hurts. Now not all kids can be delt the same way I understand.
LAball, how about making the kids do ONE pushup everytime they don't listen or something gets messed up due to lack of attention.

The single pushup will end up being a short, fun way for them to get the point. And a push up won't take several minutes away from practice.

We had this "punishment" on one of my son's teams. I can't remember what the player did wrong but in the middle of an at-bat in a real game, the batter instinctively dropped down and did a push up right there in the batters box!
