Thanks for the update. I was thinking it might be a good marketing tool to start putting videos of Jason's pitching performances on You Tube and linking them to this site.

I find it hard to believe that with all the detail DM is able to pass along regarding all things dolphin, he/she cant get the name(s) of the opposing players. Hmmmm.

For the cynics of the group.....If there is no name on the back of the uniform, or it is not someone who is readily known to me, I cannot provide anymore specifics.
Both pitchers were very effective in a park with close in fences and on a day with the wind blowing out. A couple of balls came close to leaving the park, but were caught. Dae Bowden drove a Double to the wall in center field (350 feet), but nothing left the park.

Mark, sorry to bring out the attack dogs. The three lefties on HP are Matt Berk (who I think is injured), Ben Davis and Bryce Codell. It was probably Bryce. Interestingly, I think Bryce's Father was going to take him to Stanford as well. So Jason probably would have recognized him.

Haven't detected any cynicism. Whenever I was at a game and some other player did something of note, I asked the other parents around me (our team)who that kid(s) was. If they didn't know, I asked our coach. If our coach didn't know, I'd walk over to the other parents (other team) and ask. They were always happy to share with me the players name and any other relevant information about him, like if he was a D1 commit, an underclassman, a fill in starter having the game of his life...stuff like that. See that's what truly interested people do, not just focus on their kid and their kids team. That's not cynicism, that's altruistic interest in enjoying the whole game, and appreciation of other players and their abilities, not just one kids little slice of it.

The Winning Pitcher for Young was Jack Cinoman (3 IP) no hits allowed. Making pitching appearances for Young as the starter was Nate Kamin (4 IP) and Frank Gowder (4 IP).
Frank Gowder scored the opening run for Young in the 1st Inning. Nate Kamin drove in a run in the 2nd Inning. John Schreiber Singled for 2 RBI's in the 3rd Inning. The 4-4 tie was broken in the bottom of the 11th inning with a Bases Loaded Single by Jason Ormond driving in Dae Bowden who scored the winning run.

I understand people not liking the way this person posts, but is it necessary to include the player when you really mean to rip the dad for how he handles things?

Dolphin Mom & BBDad1954- I don't think it was Bryce who pitched the HP/WY game, as he pitched the day before. I'll have to find out. However, the majority of the guys facing Young were not the regular varisty guys - they're playing Legion. Since we had a Legion game that night, the regulars were not at Wolters. Most of the summer varsity has been comprised of the Juniors. The seniors will be bacl for the playoffs.
Regardless, a 2-1 game at the now pint sized Wolters is a good game. Congratulations on a well played game.

All of this is foreign to me but the impression that I get is that on any given day, teams are playing without key players. Is that accruate? It seems as if travel ball, legion ball, camps/showcases etc. actually make it impossible to field a team that closely resembles the team that will take the field next spring.
BTW, the "pms" are up on this thread due to "promotion." I've found that many posters spell relief "ignore." Simply left click on the poster's name and select the ignore feature. Believe me, you'll be happier.

CoachB - you're absolutely correct. High school teams in this part of the world use the summer season as a chance to see the younger guys - we even have a few 8th graders (soon to be freshmen) who were invited to play on the sophomore team. Most teams encourage their rising seniors to find somewhere else to play - until the playoffs start. Then it's a whole new ballgame!
Our part of the state is under flood warnings yet again, so you have my sympathies. The absolute worst part for us (as we're on high ground) is the mosquitoes - they're big, they're ferocious and THEY'RE HUNGRY! No more waiting until dusk - they're on the prowl 24 hours a day... today they reported that the count is at 26 times the acceptable annoyance level. I would put it more around 2600 times!

I hope those 8th graders are not playing on a high school team. Technically that is not legal under IHSA bylaws. Those players eligibility are being put in danger. Think of the Pvt schools ability to recruit 8th graders over the summer by asking them to play on there HS teams and making all kinds of promises. Maybe a kid could play for 1 school the first week and then change. If as coaches we cannot leave these 8th graders alone I can promise you we will end up losing HS summer baseball as we now know it. We will end up with 25 contact dates just like the other sports. We have it pretty good right now.
If the IHSA starts getting complaints about incoming freshmen on HS summer teams I can guarantee you we will be headed down that road. It almost happened this past year.

mythreesons, your area will be in our prayers as this rain has to stop. Mosquitoes are bad here as well. We have had some of the hardest rain I've ever seen today. In fact, we went to a community some 13 miles away for supper and ran into flash floods everywhere. I'm starting on an Ark as soon as I can!
Come fall, we are all going to pay for this as the crops all over this state, Iowa and others are being destroyed. Take care!
