Seems like an appropriate time to check in David Bach. Harvard sophmore. Except for a late season injury Dave had an excellent freshman year. A versatile player that can play infield and outfield while hitting a ton, I look for big things over the next few years out of this former OPRF star.
Vasili Spanos. One of the great college hitters of all time at Indiana University. After an outstanding year with the Kane County Cougars he is waiting to be assigned a team in 2005.
soxnole, that has got to be super exciting for Ruairi and your family. Keep us updated as he progresses towards regular season and on his thoughts about college vs. high school academics/baseball. Good luck to him and all webster kids this season!
Thanks Dennis. We are all very pleased with the entire process at Florida State. I can't even imagine a process being cleaner and easier than what the folks in Tallahassee provided to us. He is carrying a full 15 hour load and will major in Business Administration. 10 hours per week (mandatory)in the study hall which has every possible modern convenience. He will live with 3 team members in a beautiful 4 bedroom townhouse less than 2 miles from campus. He also has 2 1st cousins at FSU, 1 in Law school and 1 sophomore. The academic support is 2nd to none and the social support of the 2 (female) cousins will be very helpful. His relationship with teamates is off to a great start. He has spent over a month in Tallahassee and was introduced to and hung out with several players on multiple occasions. The coaching staff at FSU are the very best, especially with regard to personal relationships. Mike Martin, like Bobby Bowden is a truly wonderful man with great charisma. Mike Martin Jr. has become a dear friend and Jamey Shouppe is not only the top pitching coach in the country (statistically), he combines dicipline with an ability for being a player's coach . We feel that Ruairi has had the decided advantage of playing for the single best HS staff in Illinois and now the best college staff in the nation.
Larry Gempp Jr. junior student/sophmore eligibility University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Horizon League (D1), L/L, OF
Good to see the hard work paying off, after watching Grant and then hitting 3rd for CLC, it is good to see someone makes the steps to D-I. The same can be said for Malec (ACHS alum) now at MSU.
Mike Jernstad, Pitching great so far. Mom n PoP got to see Mike "Jerny" Pitch a Gem against Mt. Mercy of Cedar Rapids Iowa last sat. Mar.5th. He threw a 4 hit shut out against a good Mt. Mercy ball team. Sat. Mar.12th Mike threw for another complete game victory, for his 2nd win for the Lions. Great Job Mike!!!
