LHPDAD - From our experience, an in-home visit by a coach (coaches) meant serious business. I think it is likely a very, very good sign with regards to that school.
I think the ones we experienced averaged around 2 hours. Coaches went over their program, some with data about pitchers. They discussed their program and why it was a "good choice." They discussed academics at their school. They discussed other schools they "suspected" were recruiting our son (not negatively, just let us know they knew). They asked questions about our thoughts on our son and the draft. One school came in-home twice (not the school he ultimately chose)...first time by an assistant then with the head coach.
And they answered questions. I tried to not leave any question important to me off the table.
Some made offers during the visit, some made them later. Some never got the chance later.
Each time, we prepared some small snacks and drinks (not alchololic!
) and tried to make the atmosphere comfortable for everyone.
I enjoyed those visits. I think I learned more in my living room where I was comfortable than in any other location, including on-campus visits.
Good luck!
