I coach a U16 travel team and I am looking for some ideas for off-day training for pitchers while in season. For example my team will play Wednesday thru Sunday during the summer. What types of things would you do 1,2,3 days before and after a start? Any ideas with what you have kids do would be appreciated.

Golfing is a popular activity for pitchers, the Braves staff was famous for playing a ton of golf between starts!

I don't know if you are looking for activities for leisure or conditioning between starts? If you're looking for activities to better prepare them for their outings, I wouldn't include golfing as a strength gaining or conditioning activity. This time between starts should be used for preparing them for the games they will be pitching in.

Judging from your first response, it looks as though you have a fairly hard schedule playing Wednesday through Sunday. I would build an in-between start schedule which includes bullpen work, running, lifting, etc... to keep them strong through the season. I won't get in too much detail here, but examples of this are included throughout this website and other places.

I’m sorry Nick, I didn't catch the sarcasm!

Many different opinions exist for the perfect between start program, so it can be hard to navigate. This is because it often times depends on what works best for the individual pitcher.

The basics will includes what I described before, throwing, running, weight training, etc... All the things a pitcher needs to do to complete on game day.

Below are two discussions I found on this website which should help give a little more guidance:
