I didn't push my son on working out until he grew. He's now a 6'1", 162 pounds high school soph. From growing two inches, eating, protein shakes and working out since s****r ended he gained twenty-two pounds and a lot of strength. He did FASST (fitness, agility, speed, strength training)

Tryouts start this week. He's an infielder and relief pitcher. What can he do for in season workouts that won't affect his play?

RJM, sorry this probably isn't going to answer your question.. Contrary to what thirdsacker says about just playing baseball, it is important to have some sort of workout during the season. Without it, your preseason and offseason workout was all but pointless. As to how much to do during the season-- really comes down to time and commitment. Each person is likely to be different. For me, my workout barely changed going from "offseason" to "inseason" and mainly it just saw a reduction of reps and sets. Instead of 5 sets of 5, we would do 3 sets of 5, etc. I worked out 3 days a week inseason while most prefer two days per week.

Agree for the most part, but I would actually increase reps while decreasing sets and doing lighter weights.
