Independent Baseball Tryouts

Hello

I was wondering what the rules are to signing players for an independent baseball team. (there is a new team forming lake county fielders in lake county il soon and say they are going to have tryouts) what qualifications do you need besides being good to make the team. Can college players play? Can that ruin their eligibility. thanks for the help guys!!!

I played professional baseball in the independent leagues "back in the day"....and it is PROFESSIONAL baseball. Therefore, a college player would lose eligibility by accepting money (albeit not a lot) for playing in the professional ranks. Leagues like the Northern League, Frontier League and Atlantic league are good baseball, the equivalent of most Class A teams affiliated with organizations.
