Both play in the Panhandle conference. It's a very tough conference and they've represented the state of Florida the last 2 seasons at the World Series. PJC's assistant Doug Martin was named the head coach at NW Fl State this season.
Doug is a top notch guy. He works hard and he's fair. I would let my son play for him any day. While he was at PJC Doug did everything. Recruiting and running the practices. Hamilton is the AD and essentially gave the team over to Doug without admitting it.
Both places have good facilities. I would say that NW Fl State has tremendous JC facilities. At OW the players live in apartments that are right across the street from the school. All the athletes live there. All the assistant coaches live there and monitor the athletes.
As far as who is better or what not it's usually a flip of the coin each and every year. There is so much turnover that there is no telling who will be better than who. The one flag that I would have this year would be the fact that I don't know who did the recruiting for PJC or who is doing it. I can't speak about them as a coach or a person because i don't know them.
Doug hired Nick Fletcher from Chipola do be his assistant. Nick works his tail off on the recruiting trail. I don't know about his coaching abilities because i never saw a practice. I do know that Chipola puts a quality product on the field each and every year so I'm sure he excells in that area too. Hope this helped.
