Actually, the way its worded, its 3 innings for a game shortened to less than 7 innings for any reason. IOW, if the game is called because of rain after outs in the top of the 7th, 3 innings are all the starters need.

The ML rule is much more direct and understandable.

(1) five innings of a game that lasts six or more innings on defense, or
(2) four innings of a game that lasts five innings on defense,


Oh how I long for the day when NFHS decides to accept modified OBR as their rules. Wink
