Just heard a news conference on the radio from NYC mayor Bloomberg. If I wasn't scared before, I am now. All mass transit in, out, and around NYC is shutting down tomorrow at 12PM. Wow! 
Can't imagine trying to fly anywhere during the next couple of days with some of the big airports shut down.
It's going to get ugly here shortly. Hoping Irene loses more steam before she gets here.

Just started raining in Northern NJ. Let's hope for the best.
We've had one light band so far in eastern CT. Dog has been on edge all day (hates thunderstorms).
Lots of rain (weather people said we got 10"),not too bad with the winds. I spent all of Saturday through the night, with my son, mopping the basement trying to save the boiler and hot water heater. Water finally stopped coming in around noon on Sunday. Not the best weekend in memory, but many around us had it so much worse... Keeping them all in my prayers.
Lost power yesterday at 5am, who knows when it will be back on. A tree fell and hit the house but did minimal damage. We are cleaning up today. We are very thankful the wind wasn't worse that it was.
Lost power Sunday afternoon; still not on. No house damage and family is fine, most importantly.
However, a very big tree fell just into our woods. It took down a very big branch, which fell directly on something very near and dear to my son and me - our batting cage.
It broke the middle pole system and bent all the others. Frame is completely shot, plus L-screen bent.
We've had it 10 years and it's a big part of our baseball life. My son and I ache.
Waiting to hear back from insurance company.

power went out Saturday night and its still out with no end in sight Hopefully by the weekend.
Sandman. had the same thing happen a few years back. also had a bunch of rips. inurance replaced it all. covered under other structures.
