Hi LHPStow, welcome to HHBBW. You are not too early.

You will find many peple here with a lot of knowledge about the process. But you need to read it and then figure what will work best for you. Don't hesitate to ask or query the previous threads because there is plenty of discussion already on your topic.

If I were you I would pick a winter camp or two at a college you are looking at. They are usually held during the Christmas break. Some are held the first part of December before the break. The larger schools usually have coaches from other colleges in to help so you get plenty of exposure if that happens. But sometimes the school simply uses their players to run the camp which then limits your exposure. This way you see the college, meet the coaches, and they meet you. Go on the internet or call and ask about camps, who assists, etc. you should be able to find out a lot of info. The recruiting coach is usually gald to send you an information package about the camp and a questionnaire for you to fill out where you can detail information about yourself.

You also want to go to a top scouting event like a Perfect Game showcase to get an unbiased opinion of your abilities. They rate you and stack you against your peers. This will give you some idea about where you stand agaist others players in your graduation class.

Good Luck.
I love the hSBBW because everyone is so helpful, but sometimes no matter how hard we try, the poster becomes confused and we do also (at least I am). crazy

LHPStow,
You left a post in general items yesterday and got some pretty good advice, have gotten some good advice today and also inquired about looking for a team to play for in another thread and have some other posts regarding your situation in other threads as well, plus and inquiry on a school.

I think you have been given some good advice to begin your work, it's a big undertaking and overwhelming for a young player. I am suggesting(if serious) that you sit down with your folks to talk about goals and how they can assist you in obtaining those goals. Let them know that you wish to play beyond HS, show them this website so they can begin to understand the process and help you to understand as well.

Best of luck.
I am not nearly so wise as most of the other posters on this site, but if you really think you are interested in Missouri, I would go to one of their camps, But I'm not so sure I wouldn't wait until this summer. You could send a letter to the coach telling him you are a sophomore and are interested in his program and could he please put you on his mailing list for camps. That gets your name in front of him. then see how your high school season goes, so you know as someone said above, if you have anything worthwhile to tell him. If it goes well, let him know before the camp that you are a rising junior and you played such and such in high school and you will be at his camp. then make sure you shake his hand at the camp and out-hustle everyone there! (our experience too, has been that there seem to be more "other" college coaches at the summer/fall camps b/c they are more "showcase" type camps)
