Sign your letter of intent this past week, did you?

I know it's chilly in Maryland in the Spring and a .500 ACC record is still a distant dream but at least you're playing ACC competition at warm weather venues at Miami, GT, NC, NC St, Duke, FSU, Clemson, etc.. Right, that's what they told you, eh?

Better ask Santa for longjohns this Christmas because it's going to be away games in Ann Arbor, Lansing, State College, Iowa City, etc.. if Terps go the Big 10. The ink isn't dry on the LOI's and Terp baseball gets that news! I sure hope it's only a rumor.

Tell you what, if this thing comes down to a choice between staying in the ACC by dropping baseball and a few more non revenue sports vs. keeping those NR tteams afloat and going to the Big 10, what do you think the vast majority of Terp alums wold want? Overwhelmingly folks want to stay in the ACC -- at any cost, even dropping teams!

This is where the rubber meets the road. It's about the $$$ and MD can't pay it's bills much less compete with the "drag" of NR sports and a football program that is woeful and can't carry the load.

Large infusions of Big 10 TV revenue $$ makes this sad reality a very likely money grab for MD and an end to great tradition -- especially painful to Md basketball fans -- wow, no more Duke, UNC unless it's in the ACC / Big 10 Chalenger next Thanksgiving.

The topic of how things can change abruptly for a college player once he's arrived comes up a good bit here; but, I suppose there are instances when an entire coaching staff can be subject to that, as well.

One day these guys thought they were coaching an ACC program. The next day, maybe not.

The college landscape continues to change, and baseball has no choice but to tag along for the ride.
I have enjoyed fifty years of watching talent within ACC Baseball.

Not sure what my expectations are for watching Big10 Baseball.

I remember driving to watch games near Penn State.
I think I prefer the warmer trips to the Research Triangle.

I suspect FSU to change conferences.

Let's do this for the dollars.

Bottom Line: The similarities are different. Smile
The Nikes, Under Armours, ESPN's et al are going to keep altering the landscape until they've ruined college athletics. At some point, people begin to realize that it's nothing but a money grab by all parties involved. The price of tickets, gear, and everything else will continue to escalate until the average Joe can no longer afford to enjoy the college sports he once cherished.

This is where our current "visionaries" are leading us.

B1G: Even the label has become a parody of a once-proud...and logical...past.
