With MLB expanding their All Star rosters and not allowing pitchers who pitch on the Sunday prior to the game to participate we could have better than 80 players named as All Stars. Just like LL--everyone gets a trophy--wow

It is bad enough that MLB is watered down by team expansion now we will have a watered down All Star game

The All Star game is no more than an Exhibition game these days. A far cry from days of yore. It makes sense not to tie up Roster spots with Sunday pitchers that won't throw. Also, extra players allows the Manager to substitute with a little more peace of mind and not having to worry, as much, about running out of players in extra innings if he plams his substitutions for a regulation 9-inning game.
I wonder how many of those guys really think about the home team advantage for the World Series. Very few of them will get there. In the old days, there really was animosity between the leagues and you rarely saw players in their prime move via trade to the other league. That's why the Frank Robinson trade was such a big deal in 1966. Now players move from league to league constantly via free agency and there are interleague games during the season and much of the identification with your individual league has been lost.
Honestly I wish all sports would do away with their version of an All Star game. I think there would be more interest if they created a skills competition instead of a game. Let's face it that most of the time the games turn into showtime spectacles.

I've never understood why MLB, NBA and NHL have their all star games in the middle of the season. NFL has their's at the end of the season but who wants to play that game if their team went deep into the playoffs. Now the players from the two best teams aren't even allowed to play since the game is now before the Super Bowl. It's truly amazing (or goes to show how much effort they put into it) that nobody has been seriously hurt in the NFL pro bowl.

Most people watch the homerun derby, 3 point / dunk competition and I used to love the QB challenges back in the day. Bring all of those to the forefront of attention and create a league versus league competition.

That's my opinion so not sure if anybody else supports it.
If it wasn't for the All-Star game how would we have a HR derby. That's the best pert of the All-Star extravaganza IMO. The All-star game should be a winner take all affair, that may add interest .

You can bet that Teams will think twice before writing All-star incentives into contracts from now on.

100% agree.

Have the HR derby and add a hitting skills competition (situational, put the ball where you want when you want, put down bunts in designated zones laid out on the field etc) as well as a defensive skills competition.
