Last night we were watching Preseason MLB, probably like alot of you were. They brought a pitcher in. Good size. That tall filled out frame. I watched him throw in amazement. He did not seem to have alot of command and never hit radar above 88. Is the MLB trading talent for size. The baseball athletes are looking like football players. How often do you think it happens that they get size hoping to fine tune them and just end up with more size than talent. I don't know....just a thought.

BBB08,
Got to believe if he's still up with the big league club this late he's got some real talent even if it wasn't obvious on the radar gun.

Local kid who is 6'8" with big league experience and has dominated AAA in the past was just sent down.

Although size may win out over talent when there's a lot of projection still possible, by the time teams get to this point only the ability to produce and where they are relative to being arbitration eligible and the like matter.

Generally speaking true talent if combined with performance will win out over size almost every time.
Hi just wanted to tell a story of my son. He is a pitcher at a Juco school and pitched in the d1 World Series last year in Colorado. He is 5'9 but in the book they put him at 5'10. Fastball 93 locates 4 pitches. Size has bothered him his whole life many Pro scouts told us if he was over 6'0 he would be a top round draft pick this year. If I sign a small pitcher and he fails its my fault. If I sign a big player and he fails its the players fault and I keep my job. He will play D1 in Arkansas with a 70% offer he has had many D1 offers. So If you have a son that is short tell him hard work will pay off and the least thing that can happin is you get your school paid for. These Coaches belive in him and told him to come in here with a chip on his sholder. In 2 years he may go in the draft. For all the short pitchers like my son good job work hard.
