Never heard of that one. You can't HIT the ball to them once the game has started, but I don't think there's any rule that says you can't throw it around. I would allow it.
Nope not a rule. As long as it doesn't delay the game, it's okay.
As a matter of fact, if the pitcher leaving moves to a defensive position in the infield, I will ask if he wants a couple thrown to him.
Thanks guys that is what I thought but that is what the plate ump told us last night. I asked him if this was a new rule and he said it has always been there but almost nobody enforces it. In fact we made several pitching changes last night and he never said anything until it was the last one.
