Nope - sacrifice fly and he gets an RBI. High fives from all his teammates when he gets back to the dugout too.

There is an interesting wrinkle here-- a sacrifice fly causes a player's on base percentage to go down! The formula includes sacrifice flies (but not sacrifice bunts) in the denominator.

So a player like Pedro Feliz, who rarely walks or gets hit by a pitch, has had a stretch of time with a lower on-base percentage than batting average.

Also it's interesting that while SF's count against your OBA, sac bunts do not. I have no idea what the reasoning is behind that distinction.

I've wondered about that myself Midlo.

Are the power's that be implying that SF's aren't totally intentional and thus shouldn't totally count as sacrifices, but are partially intentional sacrifices, so they get partial credit?

It would be interesting to hear the logic behind this rule.
