I don't like wearing batting gloves but for fielding i like to wear one on my glove hand to have my glove fit better. is it strange for me to put on a batting glove for fielding instead of "batting"

no.... not at all....

If it makes your glove fit better and you feel better and it is legal within the rules (which it is) then its fine......
